Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Seen, and how we all keep Seen a good place to meet.

Last updated October 14, 2026

The short version

  • You must be 18 or older, be yourself, and have only one account.
  • Treat people the way you’d want to be treated. No harassment, nudity, scams or recording people without their consent.
  • Your photos, videos and words stay yours. You let us use them to run and improve Seen.
  • We don’t run background checks on members. Take care when you meet someone, and report anything that feels wrong.
  • We can remove content or ban accounts that break these terms. You can delete your account at any time.
  • When these terms change, we’ll tell you before the change takes effect. You won’t need to accept them again.

1. Your agreement with Seen

These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name], a company based in Quebec, Canada (“Seen”, “we”, “us”). They apply to the Seen app, the website at tryseen.ca and everything we offer through them (the “service”).

By creating an account or using the service, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t accept them, don’t use Seen.

2. Who can use Seen

To use Seen, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old;
  • be a real person using your own phone number;
  • have only one account;
  • not have been banned from Seen before, unless we’ve told you that you may come back;
  • not have been convicted of, or be required to register for, a sexual or violent offence;
  • be allowed to use the service under the laws that apply to you.

3. Your account

Keep your profile true: your real first name, your real age, and photos, videos and voice that are you. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your phone and its sign-in codes to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.

4. How Seen works

When someone catches your eye, you send a Seen request. If they accept, it’s a prematch, and you have 3 days to have a first call, by voice or video. After the call, you each choose Match or Pass. If you both choose Match, messages unlock.

Seen will keep changing. We may add, change or remove features, including adding ads, paid features or verification, and change how many people you can see or contact. We don’t promise that you’ll match with anyone, or that any feature will always be available.

5. Community rules

Seen only works when people feel safe being themselves. On Seen, you agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone, or keep contacting someone who doesn’t want to hear from you;
  • post or send hateful content, or attack anyone for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other part of who they are;
  • show nudity or sexual content in your profile or on calls, or send sexual content to anyone who hasn’t clearly asked for it;
  • post or share anything that involves a minor in a sexual way. We report it to the authorities;
  • pretend to be someone else, use someone else’s photos, or lie about your age or who you are;
  • ask anyone for money, scam people, promote a business, or offer or ask for sexual services;
  • record or screenshot calls, or share someone’s photos, messages or personal information outside Seen, without their consent;
  • promote violence, self-harm, illegal drugs or weapons, or do anything illegal;
  • spam, use bots, scrape the service, or access it in ways we don’t provide;
  • copy, change, reverse engineer or disrupt the app or our servers, or get around our safety features, such as by making a new account after a ban;
  • post anything you don’t have the right to share.

6. Your content

Your photos, videos, voice introductions, profile details and messages stay yours. You’re responsible for them and promise you have the right to share them.

So we can run Seen, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt (for example, to resize a photo), display and share your content, for the purposes of operating, improving, developing and keeping safe the service, including training the systems that run it. This licence ends when you delete your content or your account, except for content already shared with others (such as messages in their chats), and copies we must keep for safety or by law. We won’t use your photos or videos in ads for Seen without asking you first.

7. Your safety

We check that every account has a working phone number, but we don’t run criminal background checks or verify the identity of members unless a feature says so. You are responsible for how you interact with other members.

Take your time before meeting someone. Meet in a public place, tell a friend where you’ll be, and get there and back on your own. Never send money to someone you met on Seen. If someone makes you feel unsafe, block and report them, and if you’re in danger, call emergency services.

8. Reports and enforcement

You can report a profile or a call from the app. Our team reviews reports and may look at the content involved. Automated tools may help us find content or behaviour to review.

If we believe you broke these terms, put someone at risk or broke the law, we may remove content, warn you, limit your account, or suspend or ban it, with or without notice. A ban applies to your phone number, so you can’t start over with a new account. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@tryseen.ca and we’ll take another look.

10. Ads and other services

Seen may show ads, including ads chosen for you as described in our Privacy Policy. Seen may also link to other websites or services. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content or how they treat you.

11. Our rights

The service, including the app, the website, the Seen name and logo, and the content we create, belongs to Seen. We give you a personal, revocable licence to use the app for yourself, as these terms allow. You may not use our name or logo without our permission.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything.

12. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may close it if you break these terms, if we must for legal reasons, or if we stop offering the service, and we’ll tell you when we can. The sections on your content, our rights, disclaimers, liability and disputes still apply after your account is closed.

13. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Seen running well, but to the extent the law allows, we provide it “as is”. We don’t promise that it will always be available, free of errors or secure, and we aren’t responsible for what other members say or do, on Seen or off it.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Seen is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or opportunities, arising from your use of the service or the conduct of other members. To the same extent, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 Canadian dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, including for bodily or moral injury caused to you, or for our intentional or gross fault, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer, including under Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act.

15. Your responsibility to us

To the extent the law allows, if someone makes a claim against Seen because of your content, your conduct on or off Seen, or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover the losses and reasonable costs that result.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you have a problem with Seen, write to support@tryseen.ca first: most things can be sorted out that way.

If not, disputes go to the courts of the judicial district of Montreal, unless the law gives you the right, as a consumer, to bring your claim in the courts where you live.

17. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as Seen changes, for example when we add ads, paid features or verification, or when the law changes. We’ll post every new version here with its date.

Before a change that affects your rights or obligations takes effect, we’ll tell you in the app or by notification at least 30 days ahead, show the new wording and the date it applies. You won’t need to accept the terms again: if you don’t agree, you can delete your account before that date, at no cost, and cancel any subscription. If you keep using Seen after that date, the updated terms apply to you.

18. General

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Seen about the service. If part of them can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part right away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over the service; you may not transfer them without our agreement.

These terms are available in French and English, and both versions are equally valid.
